Repurposed Can Planters
Print Friendly

I had some seedlings that needed replanting.  Too lazy to drag myself to the store, I started looking around the house for things I could repurpose into planters.  Low and behold I saw some cans sitting by my sink.  Lightbulb!  Instead of trashing the cans, I could reuse them as my planters!

1. Peel the labels off and wash the cans out.
2. Using a hammer and nail, punch some drainage holes in the bottom of the cans.
3. Fill the cans with organic potting soil.
4. Make a little space for the seedlings, settle them into the soil, then nestle them up with dirt.

This project is a fun and easy introduction to gardening with your kids, so don’t forget to have them help out!  You can also use these repurposed can planters to start seeds in if you don’t have seedlings.

Not gonna lie, I’m kinda loving my repurposed can planters.  Not only do I feel more eco-friendly finding ways to give my garbage a second life, but they look pretty dang cool.  I might even turn some into a Repurposed Can Herb Garden!  How cute would that be?!
